Itinerary description
Setting out from the characteristic village of Monolithos, we descend to a little “red” sand bay between tall cliffs. This wild bay, accessible only on foot, will stun you with its classic Greek beauty.
Crystal-clear waters and a sea breeze make this the ideal spot for a brief stop before climbing up to the castle, perched on a rock emerging above the green valley.
Unassailable Monolithos Castle, built on the 236m high monolith that gives it its name, has never been conquered. All that remains today is a portion of the outer fortifications and two fifteenth-century chapels, with breath-taking views over Akramitis, the island of Halki and the vast blue expanse of the Aegean Sea. After watching the Sunset, we return to the village in the twilight.
Transfer available on request: € 10 – € 25 per person (depending on departure point) both ways
