Butterfly Valley is a habitat where from the beginning of June until the end of September a rare species of butterfly panaxia Quadripunctaria appears.
It is a natural, uphill, landscape, where one can see small waterfalls and lakes, wooden paths and bridges and at the end of which one can reach the monastery of Panagia Kalopetra.
This species of butterfly was discovered by the Italian professor Alessandro Chigi in 1928.
It is worth noting that the valley of the butterflies must be quiet so that the Butterflies are not scared.
Also very interesting is the Museum of Natural History which is located below the site and one can see the various species of butterflies that are found around the world.
